Yes, we ask each family to buy 6 tickets ($90 value) for our annual Latin Elements show on April. Please note that if you have more than one child at the school, you will still only pay for 6 tickets.
Children must be 4 yrs old by December 2018 to attend pre-Kindergarten.
Please, let us know ahead of time, so we can let the teacher know about the absence. An email or a phone call is enough.
Yes, they have a lunch break from 11:00 to 11:15 am
Children can bring their own lunch or can purchase Latin American food in our cafeteria.
It depends on the amount of children and their age, though all children in Pre-Kinder, Kindergarten and Grade 1 do have a teacher’s assistant.
Each instructor will recommend or require a particular text for his or her group of students.
Each child is registered in our school at the same grade level as their weekday school. For example, if your child is attending Grade 4 in school, she or he will be in Grade 4 at Gabriela Mistral.
Classes start at 10:00 am and end at 1:00 pm. Since we rent the facility from Edmonton Public School Board, we ask that you to be punctual in picking up your children.
Absolutely – if you want to stay, you are welcome to take advantage of our comfy cafeteria and enjoy some Latin American food. Remember that you can also take Spanish classes at the same time as your children!
Some of the duties of parent volunteers include: preparing teaching materials (photocopying, library search, etc.); preparing coffee and selling the food during recess; helping arrange rooms; carrying chairs, and; other tasks assigned by a teacher or administrator. These shifts start at 9:30 AM and end at 1:30 PM.
Your help is vital in order to keep the registration fee as low as it is. Since 1994, the school has not benefited from the financial support of any level of government: we rely on our volunteers to help us out!
